What the calculators can and cannot know

Our figures are computed from a regional electricity rate and the system parameters you enter. They cannot account for factors that materially change a real installation’s economics, including:

• roof pitch, orientation, structural condition and available unshaded area;
• shading from trees, chimneys and neighbouring buildings across the year;
• your actual consumption pattern and how much generation you use rather than export;
• the specific tariff, standing charge and export rate your supplier offers you;
• local grid connection limits, permitting requirements and installer pricing.

Two identical houses on the same street can have materially different outcomes. Treat our output as a starting range to sanity-check quotes against, not as a prediction.

Incentives change

Grant schemes, tax credits, export tariffs and VAT treatment are set by governments and regulators and can change, close, or be capped by available funding — sometimes at short notice. We name the administering body on each page precisely so you can confirm current terms and eligibility with them before you rely on a scheme. Eligibility is decided by that body, never by this site.
